Above left; our trip around the east coast of Tassie to the remote Southwest National Park and the Tasmanian Wilderness Heritage Site in the south west corner…This is the most sourtherly point of our entire trip so far- 43 degrees!

Above right; The pristine sands at Louisa Bay begged to be engraved by a Tika-style mandala…

Louisa Bay is a deep, crescent beach flanked by an impressive, inbound mountain range and attached to the isthmus of Louisa Island. We are well and truly in the roaring 40’s and were lucky to jag just the right weather window to allow for a pit stop in this beautiful bay. It’s hard to believe we are cruising some of the wildest coastline of Australia!

Gorgeous, remote rugged beach with a backdrop of Mt Counsel and the Bay Range. it makes me feel content and nostalgically happy simply knowing that this place exists. You have to walk or sail into Louisa Bay; it is as unblemished as a beach in Oz can get…

A blissful afternoon was spent exploring the wide, empty beach. We were oblivious to the tide that spent the hours slowly creeping in. The walk back to the dinghy along the rapidly disappearing sand spit got a little wet…

Above; the trip so far- nearly home; but nowhere near home! still 2000 nautical miles to Perth…

We left Louisa Bay incredibly grateful to have been able to have a play there. As we headed back out to sea, Tika rose and fell with the big, long-period, Southern Ocean swells. We rounded South Cape and turned right-  heading north towards Port Davy and Bathurst Harbour….

Below- a 50 second snippit of our epic beach walk at Louisa Bay…
